At Home Elderly Care

Based in St Helen’s, Merseyside, Candour’s at home elderly care services are focused on independence and quality of life. As we live longer, fuller lives, the natural effects of ageing, such as mobility or cognitive impairments, can catch up with us – so we’re here to provide tailored support.

Why Choose At Home Elderly Care?

More to the point… why not? After working hard for your home, why shouldn’t you stay there? One of the key benefits of choosing an at home care service is that you can continue to enjoy the familiarity, security and privacy of your own space, receiving the exact level of care you need in the environment you feel most comfortable in.

Rather than having to readjust to a care home and a whole new routine, we can provide consistent care at the hours you want – while you stay surrounded by your fondest memories and the sounds, smells and sense of peace that only your own home can provide.

At home elderly care services we offer

Our elderly home care services cover everything you or your loved one needs to maintain their independence – and happiness. Through an initial consultation, we’ll work with you to design a bespoke care plan which may include some of the following:

Our caregivers understand the very sensitive nature of administering personal elderly care, approaching every client with empathy, kindness and dignity. With a person-centred approach to everything we do, our services are delivered according to your preferred, tailored care plan.

Personal elderly care assistance we can provide:

  • Eating, bathing (with equipment), dental hygiene, general grooming and hair care
  • Maintaining skin condition and integrity
  • Bowel movement regulation and bowel/bladder incontinence care
  • Emptying or changing urinary collecting devices e.g. catheter bags
  • Urinal, bedpan and/or commode use
  • Client comfort e.g. adjusting seating or lying positions etc.
  • Movement to/from bed, wheelchair, toilet, chair etc.

With established relationships and experience of working alongside GPs, pharmacies and other external parties, we can support elderly care clients with the following medication support services:

  • Storage
  • Dispensing
  • Administration
  • Disposal
  • Documentation, confidentiality and record keeping

All of our at home carers are trained to a high standard in medication management and safe medication administration.

Our at home care for elderly clients also includes meal preparation and planning services if required – ensuring a good diet with the right kinds of nutrients and fluid intake. Nothing quite beats a healthy, home cooked meal for a sense of warmth and satisfaction.

Our meal preparation services include:

  • Planning main meals and snacks together that the client will enjoy, encouraging a range of food groups for optimum wellbeing
  • Preparing meals together and sharing the sense of companionship that comes with this time
  • Helping with chopping, slicing, cutting up food or anything that the client needs assistance with
  • Working together to plan a weekly list for groceries and assisting with the shop
  • Keeping a detailed record in the client’s care plan regarding allergies, intolerances and preferences
  • PEG feeding and alternative route assistance

Whatever needs taking care of, our elderly care assistants can help with all laundry requirements including bedding, blankets, curtains and clothing.

With our focus on independence, we encourage clients to contribute to washing, ironing and putting away duties if they desire and are able to, picking up the other chores where required.

Providing effective elderly care at home means also paying attention to the smaller details. A home should always feel clean, tidy and cared for, so our caregivers will help out around the house at whatever level suits you. We want you to feel in control, and completely comfortable.

Our domestic services include:

  • Vacuuming, dusting and mopping
  • Washing dishes and worktops after meals
  • Cleaning bathrooms after personal care support and ensuring no wet or slippery surfaces
  • Keeping everything at a good level of cleanliness

If you require any additional support as part of your at home elderly care plan, we’ll always be happy to cater for reasonable requests where possible.

Companionship is core to our happiness and wellbeing. Having someone to chat to, share the highs and lows with, confide in and simply share each other’s company has a powerful impact on our mental, emotional and even physical health.

Humans thrive on connection, and that sense of companionship gives us a feeling of belonging and relationships that we can turn to for support when we’re facing difficulties or stress. We take pride in building genuine, positive connections with our elderly clients, encouraging them and working with them to eat well, exercise and enjoy day-to-day life to the fullest.

We’re here to help support other family members too, acting as friend and advocate when other commitments may prevent them caring duties, and keeping them up-to-date.

Our Reviews

I would not be the person I am today without Candour Care and their staff – absolutely amazing, I couldn’t be without them now.

Great people. The family app is fantastic, it gives me a real-time view of the care calls with dad.
