HOME CARE SUPPORT VISITS

How can our home carers support you?

Our home support services cover more than just ‘home help’. We’re here to assist and advocate in a number of ways, all worked out through a consultative approach and based on our person-centred values.

Social companions
Our experienced home carers can accompany clients on social outings and even arrange social activities for you, whatever your interests may be, so you can live life to the fullest.

Support with benefits
Formal letters from authorities can be confusing and concerning, so our carers will liaise and communicate with official departments and agencies on your behalf if you need help.

Support with shopping
Your home support assistant can drive you to the shops to grab your weekly groceries, or simply give them a list and they’ll grab your shopping for you – just tell us what you prefer, it’s your call.

At home care services we offer

Every client is unique, and therefore so are their needs – and the type of home support required isn’t always the same every day. When you choose Candour as your private home help provider, we’ll discuss and agree a care plan and specific instructions for each visit, so that all client needs are effectively and reliably met.

Here are some of the home support services we can offer:

Assisting with personal care is the aspect of home support that requires the most sensitivity, so our carers will always approach this with the highest level of compassion, empathy and understanding.

Here are some of the ways we can help:

  • Bathing/showering – with or without equipment
  • Dental/denture care, hair care, skin care and general grooming
  • Bowel/bladder care – regulation, incontinence care, urinal/bedpan/commode use and emptying/changing devices e.g. catheter bags
  • Movement and comfort e.g. adjusting positions, transfer to/from toilet, bed, wheelchair, chair etc.

Whether you need medication to manage general health conditions, dementia symptoms, mental health issues or anything else, our home carers can work closely with your GP or other services where required to ensure safe storage, dispensing, administration, disposal and record keeping of client medications.

Our at home care services can cater for client cuisine too, ensuring they’re eating properly and getting enough fluids. We always encourage as much independence as possible, picking up the parts of the process that the client needs support with.

Here are some of the ways we can help:

  • Mapping out weekly main meal and snack plans together, creating shopping lists and helping with groceries – ensuring the client has input at all times
  • Meal preparation and cooking in companionship – sharing this time in an atmosphere of friendship and belonging
  • Assisting with functions such as chopping, slicing, and cutting where the client requires support
  • PEG and alternative feeding route assistance
  • Keeping detailed care plan records regarding allergies, intolerances and preferences

Our at home care services work very much like traditional home help in many ways, working to provide a comfortable and clean environment so the client always feels in control of their own space.

We’ll discuss your specific requirements during our initial home visit, but here are some of the ways we can help keep on top of the household chores:

  • Dusting, polishing, vacuuming and mopping floors
  • After-meal cleaning e.g. plates, pots, pans and worktops
  • Cleaning bathrooms after personal care help and drying down surfaces that could pose a slip-risk
  • Maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness

As humans, good relationships are core to our wellbeing. Physical care and support are one side of what we do, but we also recognise the importance of having our emotional needs met too.

Our home carers and support staff are also here to act as a friend, a confidant, a sounding board and someone to share the ups and downs of life with. For the ultimate service experience, we also extend this to the client’s family too, nurturing positive connections and keeping them in the loop, so everyone is able to ensure the best standards of care for their loved one as possible.

Our Reviews

I would not be the person I am today without Candour Care and their staff – absolutely amazing, I couldn’t be without them now.

Great people. The family app is fantastic, it gives me a real-time view of the care calls with dad.
