At Home Care Services & Support
Candour Care provides quality at home care services across St Helen’s, delivered with compassion, respect and kindness. Whatever level of home support your loved ones require, we’re here to take the pressure off, and provide reassurance and peace of mind.

How can our home carers support you?
Our home support services cover more than just ‘home help’. We’re here to assist and advocate in a number of ways, all worked out through a consultative approach and based on our person-centred values.
Social companions
Our experienced home carers can accompany clients on social outings and even arrange social activities for you, whatever your interests may be, so you can live life to the fullest.
Support with benefits
Formal letters from authorities can be confusing and concerning, so our carers will liaise and communicate with official departments and agencies on your behalf if you need help.
Support with shopping
Your home support assistant can drive you to the shops to grab your weekly groceries, or simply give them a list and they’ll grab your shopping for you – just tell us what you prefer, it’s your call.
At home care services we offer
Every client is unique, and therefore so are their needs – and the type of home support required isn’t always the same every day. When you choose Candour as your private home help provider, we’ll discuss and agree a care plan and specific instructions for each visit, so that all client needs are effectively and reliably met.
Here are some of the home support services we can offer:
Assisting with personal care is the aspect of home support that requires the most sensitivity, so our carers will always approach this with the highest level of compassion, empathy and understanding.
Here are some of the ways we can help:
- Bathing/showering – with or without equipment
- Dental/denture care, hair care, skin care and general grooming
- Bowel/bladder care – regulation, incontinence care, urinal/bedpan/commode use and emptying/changing devices e.g. catheter bags
- Movement and comfort e.g. adjusting positions, transfer to/from toilet, bed, wheelchair, chair etc.
Whether you need medication to manage general health conditions, dementia symptoms, mental health issues or anything else, our home carers can work closely with your GP or other services where required to ensure safe storage, dispensing, administration, disposal and record keeping of client medications.
Our home care services also include supporting our clients in getting a sufficient amount of fluids and nutrition – something that is often overlooked by those suffering with dementia.
We can offer a full meal preparation services, taking care of the planning and preparation of healthy and satisfying meals for those requiring this assistance.
Our meal preparation services include:
- Encouraging a range of different food groups and planning with the client what they would prefer/enjoy for their main meals and snacks
- Including the client in mealtimes and enjoying the companionship while preparing a meal
together - Assisting with anything that the client may feel is outside of their capabilities e.g. chopping,
slicing, and/or cutting up food - Making a list together before supporting with weekly grocery shopping
- Providing comprehensive detail within the care plan regarding allergies, intolerances, and preferences.
- PEG feeding and alternative route methods
Our at home care services work very much like traditional home help in many ways, working to provide a comfortable and clean environment so the client always feels in control of their own space.
We’ll discuss your specific requirements during our initial home visit, but here are some of the ways we can help keep on top of the household chores:
- Dusting, polishing, vacuuming and mopping floors
- After-meal cleaning e.g. plates, pots, pans and worktops
- Cleaning bathrooms after personal care help and drying down surfaces that could pose a slip-risk
- Maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness
